And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6 NIV
Eric and his family went for a sailing holiday around New Zealand. They got caught in a cyclone on the east coast. The monstrous waves broke over the boat with ferocity. The wind drove them far from land. When the microwave smashed through a window the boat began sinking. They quickly got into the life raft. The storm tipped them out multiple times and it took great effort to get back in. They were praying every moment. When the fury had passed they were still alive but had only one or two bottles of water and a few apples left. The Son’s fiancé asked the church to pray for the family. Alerting the authorities, aircraft were soon searching in grid patterns. Time slowly ticked away with no sight of them. After completing their grid search the authorities decided there was little hope of finding them alive and where about to give up. We begged them to just keep looking a little longer. All the while we earnestly prayed that God would help. At last, nearly 2 weeks after the cyclone they were found. How we celebrated when we met that dear emancipated family at the wharf. God did many miracles throughout that ordeal. He really does exist and does reward those who earnestly seek him. Do believe, do trust, and earnestly make your requests known to God for he is the living God and he will hear and help you.

This story is based on my memory of events. I apologise if this is slightly inaccurate.
You have done well to remember it So clearly. If I recall, Eric was thrown overboard at one stage and as he took his first stroke his hand landed immediately On the Rope for this purpose. For some reason, he didn’t know why at the time, he had put in a rope that was at least double the length required. That was certainly a time of miracles and much rejoicing when they were found.
Oh Susie, you are right. The miracles were ongoing. I couldn’t put them all in my small devotional but how incredible God was in this disaster. I am glad if you think it fairly accurate.
