Our lives are most often filled with situations where love fails. Broken hearts from severed friendships, shattered families and broken relationships have made people cynical. We tend to believe that others are motivated purely by self-interest, and unfortunately, as time lengthens it becomes more and more evident that selfishness is a motivating force in our world. Perhaps global warming would not be occurring, and divorce courts would be unnecessary, and crime would be non-existent, if love really dwelt in each heart.  God offers a love that is enduring. His life force is love.  His love is free, rich and true. Just as he is unchanging, so his love is everlasting. It is not self-seeking but continues to flow over us, even as we fail him. It brings forgiveness, blessings and tender care. We can find healing, fulfilment and security in a love like that. Surely a reason to give thanks.
