Everyday Promises – 107

He remembers your sin no more

“I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more. Isaiah 43:25 NIV

As a teacher I have seen a lot of erasers over the years. As a rule children do not erase their mistakes well. You can see some of the writing or at least the print where the writing has been. And nothing takes out the indentations. That is a good illustration of our sins. Every imperfect thing we do is written in the record books of heaven. Nothing we can do can remove them. Even when all the pencil marks are gone you can still see the print in the paper. God in his mercy has promised to blot out our transgressions, so the pencil marks are gone. Better still, he can even take the indentations off the record book, so that he remembers our sins no more. He could do this because Jesus paid the price for our sins. The account has been settled by his blood. What amazing grace. And why does he do such a thing? Because of love. Love that could take the penalty on himself. What a wonderful, gracious God! Everything evil that you have done can be forgiven. All you need to do is ask!
