“Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” Acts 1:11 NIV

One of the things I love about the Bible are the prophecies. Predictions about the rise and fall of kingdoms, significant events and the first and second advent of Jesus. The accuracy of these prophecies is undeniable. One prophecy in Isa 13:9-22 predicted that the ancient city of Babylon would never be rebuilt or lived in again. This is so different from other ancient cities. Usually, when a city was destroyed by enemies the survivors would rebuilt and re-inhabited it. To this day no one has ever tried to rebuild or inhabit ancient Babylon. This fulfilment of prophecy gives me confidence about future promises and predictions in God’s word. The angels spoke our promise today to the followers of Jesus, when he ascended into heaven, after his resurrection. They said “This same Jesus … will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” It may not have happened yet but I know it will happen. We will soon see our Saviour come in the clouds of heaven. I pray you will be ready for that great event.
