But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul. Deuteronomy 4:29 NIV

Jesus told a story about a young man who took his inheritance and went far away. He squandered his money and lived a life of debauchery. He soon found himself penniless and feeding pigs. Desperate, he decided to head home, planning to plead for the place of a servant. Before he even reached his gate, his father rushed to meet him, enveloped him in a massive bear hug and before he could say a word, the father ordered a huge celebration to mark his homecoming. Today’s promise says much the same thing. No matter how far you have wandered from home – “if from there” you go to God, he will do exactly what the Father in the story does. He will welcome you with open arms. He has loved you and longed for you, all the time you have been gone. If you are in earnest, and you give him your heart, he will be as close as your next breath. So, leave ‘there’ and go to him, for you will find a heart of love awaiting you.
