Everyday Promises – 278

Our help and shield

You who fear him, trust in the Lord— he is their help and shield. Psalm 115:11 NIV

Pastor John was working in an area where there was tribal fighting. He had been commissioned by the government to distribute a ton of medical supplies to needy areas. He planned to travel in a brand-new, small plane at the airport. Some of the supplies had been loaded. As Pastor John prepared to climb aboard a hand rested on his shoulder and a voice said. “No! Do not fly in this airplane!” Looking around somewhat confused he saw no one. Obedient to the voice, he was sure was an angel, he asked for his supplies to be removed. He then found another small plane that could take him to deliver the much-needed medicines. Sadly, not long after, he heard that the brand-new plane had crashed after take-off! God has promised to be a help and shield to those who love him. We don’t understand why things happen in this world, but we can be sure that God has his children in the palm of his hand.
