Everyday Promises – 364

Don't go fishing

You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea. Micah 7:19 NIV

I once saw a cartoon that depicted a man fishing for his sins after God had hurled them into the sea. No matter how hard we try, doing everything perfectly is impossible. I have made so many foolish mistakes and bad choices in my life. The God we serve is a God of compassion and love. He is ready to forgive any sin when we come with true sincerity to ask forgiveness. Be assured there is nothing, no matter how bad, that God cannot forgive. Although hurling our sins into the depths of the sea is only a metaphor, it depicts how completely God forgives and forgets our mistakes. He can do this only because Jesus died for our sins. We are then covered with his pure robe of righteousness. So, when you ask for forgiveness, trust in Jesus to deal with your sins entirely. Don’t be one of the fishermen.
