Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. James 1:12 NIV
In the story of Swift Arrow by Josephine Cunnington Edwards, 12 year old George is stolen by the Indians. He becomes the Chief’s son. To pass from boyhood to manhood he must run the gauntlet through flashing knives that rise and fall to the beat of a drum. When the day of trial arrives George keeps his eye on the other end and runs with perseverance as swiftly as he can. Only a few knives graze his arms and shoulders as he runs. He passes the test with great distinction. We too need to persevere and run our race to the end, for God has promised us a crown of life. However, we do not need to run alone, for Jesus has promised to be with us always. So don’t give up for God has a crown of life waiting for you!
