There is no greater wall around a human heart than pride. Just like castles built to keep out invaders so pride builds a wall that keeps God from transforming hearts and cleansing lives. There is no sin that cannot be pardoned and forgiven, no matter how evil. But pride blinds the mind and encases the soul so it sees no need of forgiveness. David, who had seduced a married woman and murdered her husband found forgiveness and peace only through admitting his wicked deeds and humbling himself before God. There is no past so dark that God cannot heal and forgive. Go to God with your broken pieces, humble yourself before him, for He will not despise you and allow him to forgive and renew you.
