Following The Evidence #29

If God does not exist, then a whole range of questions related to His existence can simply disappear. We might as well eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die. We have no future, and we die without any judgment or accountability. We have already noted that observational science does not conflict with the Biblical view of origins. However, we noted, that historical forensic science seeks to reconstruct the unobserved past via interpretation of the data that is biased towards an evolutionary view and requires grand leaps of faith.

When we applied probability theory to some of the laws of nature and the origin of the universe and its governing laws, we discovered that the most reasonable explanation for the incredible small probabilities of chance is that an incredibly powerful and intelligent creator designed the universe. It seems that the universe has invited us to test and examine it. The laws that sustain and maintain our universe and indeed our planet provide virtually no room for error.

I will now turn our attention in another significant proof for God. An ancient prophet of the Bible makes this claim for the superiority of Yahweh (Israel’s God) over other gods:

“Let them try to tell us what happened long ago
so that we may consider the evidence.
Or let them tell us what the future holds,
so we can know what’s going to happen.
23 Yes, tell us what will occur in the days ahead.
Then we will know you are gods.
In fact, do anything—good or bad!
Do something that will amaze and frighten us.” Isaiah 41:21-23 NLT
This is a claim for the enquirer to test the claims of God. Further on, the words of God are recorded as saying:
“Who is like me?
Let him step forward and prove to you his power.
Let him do as I have done since ancient times
when I established a people and explained its future.” Isaiah 44:7 NLT
And in Isaiah 46:9,10 God declares,
“Remember the things I have done in the past.
For I alone am God!
I am God, and there is none like me.
Only I can tell you the future
before it even happens.
Everything I plan will come to pass,
for I do whatever I wish.”

Isaiah asserts that the test of divinity is the ability to predict what is to come successfully – this is the test that only God can pass. Over the next few days, I will share information that will prove that the probability of God is great. The ability to foretell specific events would point decisively to the Old and New Testament scriptures as the standard by which all other writings must be measured.

Notice what Jesus said,” I tell you this beforehand, so that when it happens you will believe that I am the Messiah” John 13:19 NLT. He continued, “I have told you these things before they happen so that when they do happen, you will believe.” John 14:29 NLT.
In these statements, Jesus makes it clear that He does not expect His followers to simply accept His claims blindly. He realizes that claims can only be genuine if they pass the test of fulfilling the smallest of probabilities; therefore, He connected predictive prophecy with belief and certainty.
