Reflections on Revelation #0

One minute meditations on the book of Revelation

“The Lord will also be a stronghold for the oppressed,
A stronghold in times of trouble;
10 And those who know Your name will put their trust in You,
For You, Lord, have not abandoned those who seek You.Psalm 9:9 & 10 NASB

I have spent considerable time over the last 6 months praying scripture into the lives of several friends who have been ‘hard-pressed!’ I was asked by one (after I made some references to Revelation,) to do a verse by verse reflection on that book. At first I said it would be impossible because of the complexity of the book. By that I meant it would be very difficult to portray the books structure in terms of Hebrew chiasms and poetry and also how it is overlayed by the major stories of the Old Testament, the sanctuary service, the Jewish religious calendar, as well as all the symbolism that comes from the Old Testament. It also draws heavily on books Like Isaiah, Ezekiel and many other prophetic writings.  The story of creation also figures heavily. HOWEVER, upon reflection I have decided to give it a go. While the daily reflections may be short (readable in one minute) I will place support material on our website for those who want more detail. If you are content with the one minute reflections, then you need to have confidence in the fact that I have poured 45 years of study into what is one of my favourite books in the Bible and a book that is very relevant for anyone going through hard times. If you want to be included by SMS then you will need to email me your mobile number. Otherwise you can elect to receive it by email.
