14 Dec Reflections on Revelation #107
Day 107 Important addition
I can’t help but dwell on this because to me, this is the ultimate Revelation of Jesus Christ in all of Scripture! We began chapter one with the divine titles of Yahweh from the OT being assigned to Jesus. Then Jesus is pictured as the High Priest, using Daniels descriptive language of God the Father. Remember we are dealing with conceptual/symbolic language that is heavily grounded in the theology of the OT. Have you ever wondered what it means to have Jesus as your High Priest – your lawyer in the courtroom of heaven? Weak and defective though you may be, sinful and erring though we all are, if you have put your case into the hands of your heavenly advocate, Jesus your lawyer in the judgment, then your case is already won! The accuser (The meaning of the word satan) does not even get a hearing in regards to your life record.
As if that were not enough, Chapters 4 & 5 have taken us into the heavenly sanctuary (keep that conceptual/ symbolic mindset going,) where we see the “Lamb that was slain,” being the only one who was worthy to take the scroll of our inheritance and loose its seals as the drama of the ages unfolds.
And then, to visualize the ascending crescendo of praise (the five anthems) we see a celebration of creation and then recreation (redemption) which is what Jesus achieved for us. How powerful that first the 4 living creatures, then the 24 elders, then 100 million angels and finally all creation sing to Jesus “Holy Holy Holy is the lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”(4:9) “Worthy is the one who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing! And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all therein saying, to Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”(5: 12-13) Read for yourself in v14 what should be your response to Him who has equality with the Father.
This is the most exciting thing I have ever written!
