Day 13.

When the month was up at ‘Auntie Margaret’s” I might well have moved on but the cluster of divine leading’s was working for my eternal destiny. Aunty Margaret took me off to another church one weekend. God understands me, and he wanted me to hang around a bit and get some answers so he says, “Hey Ross Have a look at this piece!” and there my eyes rested upon a fair maiden by the name of Dianne. Did I have a chance here? My hopes certainly wanted to think so, didn’t matter that she already had a boyfriend – I was better! Now there was a reason to stay and so when this bloke from England rings again and says he wont be arriving for another 2 months I wasn’t so unsettled when I was asked to stay on a little longer. God’s a bit of a sly old fox sometimes, He knew what would settle me down for a while, He put a maiden in my voyage, this was going to keep me anchored to a mooring for a while – long enough for His purpose to be achieved anyway. Was this a rerun of a familiar theme, or was God using what He knew best to hold me still for a while? The timeless language of love again showed me a glimpse of the happiness and sorrows of life.

While walking the dry cows home along the main road one day I made the mistake of asking “Auntie” Margaret some questions from the Bible. She said that she wasn’t so good at explaining these things and that she would get Doug, one of the elders from the local church, to explain the answers to my questions to me. He did, and I was convinced. But it went further than that!

As we spent more and more time together he began to give me answers to some of the questions I had been asking. As if pouring water on parched ground he opened to me the meaning of life and the purpose behind this worlds existence. I began to understand why the world was the way it was and why God had allowed it to continue. He proved to me that the bible was the authoritative and reliable word of God, he proved to me that Jesus was who He claimed to be and that he rose from the dead and that He will come again. Not only that but he showed me that there are hundreds of ways of establishing from the bible that we are living in that period of history that the bible calls the “Time of the End” and that we have been in that period for nearly 200 years and therefore the time was even more urgent. (It is now over 200 years – I have matured somewhat).
