Everyday Promises – 11

GOD COMFORT

Shout for joy, you heavens; rejoice, you earth; burst into song, you mountains! For the Lord comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones. Isaiah 49:13

My dear Mum passed away in 2008. She and I shared a unit and were very close. It was devastating  to see her life slowly ebbing away with cancer, yet throughout this time I saw God caring for us. My children both moved to Melbourne unexpectedly for employment, my Prep class had small numbers, my Boss was very understanding, a brand new palliative care facility had just opened minutes away from our home and mother had no pain throughout her illness. It is true that we prayed for her healing and the pastor anointed her with oil but God did not choose to heal her. As I was leaving the church that day God did speak to me; saying ” I have this in my hands.” When I stuffed the bedclothes into my mouth at night to muffle my crying, those words sustained me. We all suffer grief, heartache and pain in this world but we do not have to be alone for our Father God longs to comfort us in our troubles.

Dear Michelle so sorry to hear that.
I think ,from a human point it’s very natural to ask for healing. Death is still an enemy.
But God knows what’s better for us and your mum. So, yes we grief for the loss, tge same time we know we will see each other again with our Heavenly Father.

Matty, it will be a great day when the last enemy, death is gone. God’s ways are always best even when we don’t understand why. Blessings on you.
