Baptism by immersion is a symbol of dying to the old life and being born to a new life in Jesus. From that time on we are a child of God. The Holy Spirit is then promised to us and is like our nanny, our tutor, our guide and our helper through life. However, becoming a Christian is not a permanent state, we need to renew our commitment to God everyday and invite the Holy Spirit to be in us. Our spiritual growth is dependent on the Holy Spirit living within, just like a flower that needs water and sunshine to reach maturity. Without the Holy Spirit we will shrivel and die spiritually. Take up this promise and continue to make Jesus your Saviour everyday and blossom into the wonderful person God designed you to be.
