Everyday Promises – 119

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Psalm 119:105 NIV
Florence Nightingale became known as ‘the lady with the lamp.’ She was the founder of modern nursing and made an incredible contribution to sanitary standards in hospitals. She was called to begin nursing in the Crimea where thousands of British soldiers were dying from the squalid conditions in the hospital in Scutari. She and her team of nurses worked tirelessly to ensure every soldier was clean and in sterile surroundings. Yet after her arduous daily work she would take up a lamp and walk through the wards bringing peace, hope and help to all her patients. God’s word also brings hope, help and direction in the chaos of this world. More than ever before we need the Bible to light our way, and bring us safely home.
