The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all;. Psalm 34:19 NIV
When I was about 10 yrs old my grandpa became very ill and the doctor said he might die at any moment. Three times my grandma phoned my mum asking us to come quickly, before it was too late. Three times my stepfather said “No! We do not have the money.” Mum prayed about these troubles and twice was assured it would be alright. The third time, mum prayed all day and felt impressed to beg that we go quickly. Surprisingly when Ed came home from work he said “Okay, but I have only enough money for one tank of petrol and that is not enough to get us to grandpa’s house.” Despite this knowledge we were packed into the car and off we drove. I know my Mum prayed all the way and that car kept going despite the fuel gauge being on empty for about one third of the trip. Like the oil and meal in the Bible story the petrol did not run out. We got there just in time to say goodbye. Almost as soon as we arrived home we were informed that grandpa had passed away. We all have troubles but God has a thousand ways to look after our needs. We must ask for his help and trust him to answer – for he will.
