“Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Proverbs 30:5 NIV
It is believed that in England, in past centuries, “The Wreckers” would purposely deceive ships into believing that the light they shone from a headland, was a lighthouse. This caused ships to run into the rocks and break apart in the surf. The wreckers would then go along the shore collecting cargo that washed in, making themselves easy money. We too can be tricked like those sailing ships. Our world has many supposed lights; contrary ideologies, beliefs and theories are rampant. It is easy to lose our way in the storms and wreck our lives on the rocks. Only God’s word is flawless. Only prayerful study of the Bible can guide us safely. It alone is a refuge and a shield from falsehood. We can depend upon it and be guided into God’s safe harbour.
