Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. Deuteronomy 5:33 NIV

My mum was a great parent. She alone cared for my siblings and I as children. She was strict and we learned that it was wise to obey her. However, because of her rules and advice she saved us from many hurtful experiences. One of my siblings was determined to live without restraint. She did not listen to instruction, did not obey mum and lived a life fraught with trouble. It was out of love that mum gave us rules. It was out of love that mum gave us advice. She did these things to protect us from harm and help us to grow up as successful, happy adults. Obeying mum brought blessings to our lives that we didn’t see until we looked back over the years. It is out of love that our Heavenly Father has given us the commandments and Bible instruction. It is to save us, protect us, guide us and help us to have a happy life, even in a chaos-filled world. If you choose the way of obedience it will bring you great blessings today and far-reaching, eternal consequences for tomorrow.
