“Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Mark 11:22-23 NIV
Hudson Taylor was sure that God wanted him to go to China as a missionary. He realised that when he was in China he would have no one to rely on for his needs but God. Hudson studied medicine under a fine and very busy doctor. Invariably the doctor would forget to pay Hudson. Yet instead of reminding him about his salary he determined to only tell God his needs, to see if this promise proved true. So Hudson prayed. Saturday came and Hudson knew his rent was due on the morrow, so he prayed some more. After the last patient left at 6 o’clock the doctor suddenly said. “By the by Taylor, isn’t your salary due again?” Hudson informed him it was due 3 weeks ago. “Oh, I am sorry because I sent all the money to the bank only this afternoon.” Hudson’s hopes were crushed and rushing into another room he fell to his knees and poured out his heart to God. He had no money left for rent or food. He got to his feet filled with hope and after cleaning up prepared to leave at 10 pm. Suddenly there came a knocking on the surgery door. The doctor answered and a rich patient stepped in and insisted he pay his bill in full. Hudson soon had his salary and went home rejoicing because what he had asked, God had done. Nothing is too hard for God. He is intensely interested in all that troubles your soul. Tell him about your needs, trust his promises and you will see mighty and amazing things.
