The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 NIV
My time clock and God’s are definitely different. Although I am not of the generation that wants everything yesterday, I am still impatient for prayers to be answered, problems solved, and the horror of the world remedied. This promise today informs us that God is not slow, tardy or uncaring in how he deals with our needs on earth. Sin must run its course and his great design far surpasses our individual needs and cares. He loves every human who has ever drawn a breath. He longs to have them turn to him and be saved and so we see his intentional delay. Our own needs are important to him as well. His heart yearns for our company. He longs for a close relationship yet sometimes, even when we seek him daily he seems to answer our prayers at the very last minute or says no to our requests. At times like these we must learn to trust in his unfailing love. He knows what we need much better than we do.
