Strength comes in a few different forms. We can have physical strength, like bodybuilders and weightlifters or strength of mind like great inventors, physicists and scientists but the most important strength, is strength of character. It is hard to find individuals with integrity these days. People regularly tell lies, steal from their employers, are violent, lustful and greedy. One has to be incredibly strong to stand against the evils all around them and live with honesty and uprightness. Daniel, in the Bible, was just such a man. He chose to be true to God and his convictions despite opposition. However, this caused him to spend a night with the lions but God truly made his way secure, protecting him from harm and bringing him safely through the peril. Today’s promise tells us, that God is the one who can empower us to live honourably, and he will care for us in every trial, as we determine in our hearts to live for him.
