Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with him, we will also live with him; 2 Timothy 2:11 NIV
William Tyndale, a very learned scholar proficient in 7 languages, determined to translate the Bible into English so the light of the gospel could reach the masses. This was strictly forbidden by the church authorities who never allowed the common people to hear or read the word of God in anything but Latin. One day at a meal, where a church official was present, in the heat of argument, William was heard to say, “If God spare my life, ere many years I will cause a boy who drives a plough to know more of the scriptures than you do…” He had to flee from England when his translation work was discovered but by 1525 the New Testament had been printed in English and smuggled into England. Half way through his translation of the Old Testament he was betrayed and eventually burnt at the stake in 1536. God promises in this verse that if we die for him, we will also one day live with him eternally. We can trust God to keep his promises.
