Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:4 NIV
In this promise Jesus is not talking about the grieving we do when we lose a loved one, even though we do have great comfort from God at such a time. Rather, he is talking about our spiritual journey. When we weep over our sins and look to Jesus for forgiveness and healing, then we will find real comfort in the arms of our Saviour. He died upon a cross to rescue us but we must acknowledge our own evil heart and our total inability to save ourselves. Only then will we desire the free gift God offers. We must claim his sacrifice on our behalf to find acceptance with the Father. You will be truly blessed when you grieve over your sins, claim his salvation and put your trust in the living God, for he loves you and longs to bring comfort, peace and rest to your heart.
