“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29

There are so many things that can weary our souls. In this promise Jesus offers us rest. Rest from the burdens we carry. He died to save us from sin and guilt, he has healing for damaged hearts and minds and he gives peace even amid the turmoil of the world. In this verse God is not trying to keep us under control by the yoke but offering to lighten our load. We live in a world of misery, without God our burdens are too heavy to carry and the results can be devastating. Instead, Jesus offers to walk along beside us bearing our burdens with us and teaching us to cope. Go to him today and find rest.
