As part of my Bachelor of Education I studied ‘Law in Education’. Our Lecturer, a lawyer, was speaking about precedence. When I began to understand the implications of this, I said “You mean the laws of our country are no longer based on the 10 commandments? “True,” he replied. I spoke up again and said, “So, that means there is nothing solid to underpin the law. It can be carried like a cork on the ocean of precedence. Any bad decision made by a judge can erode the solid basis of law in our society. There is no longer any safeguard for right and truth.” I don’t know about you but that scares me. In reality, this country’s laws are like a runaway train going down a steep hill. How blessed in comparison, is the universe, where God is in control. His law is love, his words are truth and his righteous precepts are eternal. They will never change and we can depend on him to always run the universe with justice and integrity. One day he will come to make this world new. We can trust God for a bright, secure and happy future.
