And this is what he promised us—eternal life. 1 John 2:25 NIV

People throughout time have been obsessed with living eternally, perhaps because the Bible tells us that “…He(God) has also set eternity in the human heart…” Eccl 3:11. Pharaohs in Egypt, Emperors in China, and many of the rich and famous from the ancient to the modern age, have desired to defy ageing and live on forever. However, there is a much easier way to attain immortality, than spending billions on anti-ageing drugs, super diets, exercise and ‘hacking the code of life’. We need only accept the offer of salvation that God accomplished at the cross, and await his return to earth in the clouds. He will do away with sin and death forever. Those who love him will go to heaven with him, and then, when the earth is remade, we will live forever in God’s family. An eternal promise, with an eternal reward.
