But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (first part) 2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV
God often accomplishes His greatest works through our weaknesses. He utilized Betsie and Corrie Ten Boom, two elderly sisters in Holland, to rescue Jewish lives, bring light to the Ravensbrück concentration camp, and facilitate healing for thousands post-war. Nick Vujicic, a man born without limbs, has been used by God to reach thousands worldwide with a message of hope amidst adversity. Blind hymn writer Fanny Crosby’s compositions have inspired thousands towards faith. Similarly, Joni Eareckson Tada, despite her quadriplegia, has conveyed God’s love and hope to many. Their reliance on God in their frailty made them powerful instruments. Those of us without apparent weaknesses may risk being less useful to God. The less we rely on our own talents and abilities, the more we can be filled with His power. Dependence on God is the key to effective, enduring work. Seek God’s promise to be made strong in your weakness.
