Everyday Promises – 208

Lifelong Companion

And God said, “I will be with you…  Exodus 3:12 NIV

Anne Sullivan had a poverty stricken and difficult childhood; where she herself became nearly blind, her mother died, and her father abandoned her to a squalid almshouse. Anne was incensed with the injustices of the world and determined to make a difference to herself and others. She clawed an education from life and then by her tireless devotion to the plight of blind and deaf Helen, she changed the world, not only for Helen Keller, but for blind and mute people everywhere. Anne was teacher, mentor and companion to Helen for 49 years. Anne guided Helen in every success; learning to communicate with her fingers, read braille and study effectively so she could graduate from Radcliffe College. It was at great personal sacrifice that Anne served Helen throughout her life. You have a friend and Saviour even more devoted than Anne. At great personal sacrifice Jesus died for you. He wants to be your companion always, because he loves you.  God awaits your invitation so that he may walk with you, and has promised to be with you forever. Ask him today.
