Everyday Promises – 214

He has compassion and mercy

Therefore the Lord is waiting to show you mercy, and is rising up to show you compassion, for the Lord is a just God. All who wait patiently for him are happy. Isaiah 30:18 CSB

It had been a catastrophic two years as my son battled a mystery disease. He was so ill that he could barely work two hours a day, and then he would come home and crawl into bed. Eventually, we found a doctor who could identify the disease, we sent to America for special blood tests, and treatments started. His wife lived in blissful denial so I retired teaching, unlocked my superannuation and commuted 1000 km every fortnight to clean, cook and care for the children. I paid for household needs, for doctors visits and medications, and how I prayed. Nothing seemed to bring great improvement until we tried the final treatment we could have in Australia. For some time following this my Son felt a lot better. He began to work more but after a few months the disease progressively worsened. I was devastated because my money was almost gone. One day I knelt before the Lord and wept bitter tears. I begged God to heal my boy. I had nothing left to give. From that time on he got better, for God healed him. How I praise God for his compassion to my son. We have an awesome God who is merciful, compassionate and good. He cares for you too. Go to him with all that troubles your heart, then wait patiently, for he will hear and help you.
