Everyday Promises – 221

The Secret things belong to God

The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law. Deuteronomy 29:29 NIV

“It would be a pretty poor father who would ask his little girl to carry such a load:( A case full of watches). It’s the same way Corrie, with knowledge. Some knowledge is too heavy for children. When you are older and stronger you can bear it. For now you must trust me to carry it for you.” These intuitive words from Corrie’s father, about a sexual question, give a powerful illustration of today’s promise. In his holy word, God reveals enough knowledge so that we can be saved. However, there is obviously some knowledge too heavy for humans to bear. and some experiences we will wonder about. I did not understand why God allowed my little baby to die. I do not understand much about suffering, except that the Devil and not God bring catastrophes on the human race, and God works in love to bring good out of the bad. Sometimes we must just trust God. When he comes again he will then make all things clear, and his great love, integrity and wisdom will be evident.
