Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. Proverbs 3:9-10 NIV
Becoming a Christian is not like putting on a new outfit once a week. To really be a Christian it means being dressed in the garments of salvation but also being transformed day by day as we invite God into our hearts. It is the total surrender of our lives to God. This means our money too. When we honour God with our tithes and offerings, to further his work and pay his workers, he has promised to bless us in return. My mother faithfully paid tithe and gave offerings from the tiny income she earned. To others it looked like sheer madness, to give away money she really needed. Despite giving God his portion first, we always had all we required. Somehow the remaining money always stretched to put nourishing food on the table, clothes on our backs and cash for the bills. Sometimes God also provided in miraculous ways but he never allowed us to be in want. You can take him up on his promise, and experience for yourself how the Lord cares for those who love and honour him.
