Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6 NIV
On a recent trip to Greece, we travelled into the mountains, to a place called Meteora. The scenery was superb. Many stone columns adorn the Pineios Valley, some rising over 400 metres into the sky. Long ago, 24 monasteries were built on the tops of these columns. The Holy Trinity Monastery is believed to have been built in 1475-76. The only way to get to the monastery was by a rope ladder. All provisions were pulled up in baskets. It is a great illustration on what Jesus said in John 14:6. I am the way – no one is able to reach the Father without me. Just like the only way into the monastery was the rope ladder, so Jesus’ death on the cross is the only way into the presence of the Great and Holy God. Oh, how merciful and loving God is, for He gave his own life to restore us to communion with himself. That is why we pray in the name of Jesus. John 14:13 says, And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. So don’t hesitate to go, in the name of Jesus, to ask for the blessings you need to live for him each day. He loves you and longs to help you meet the challenges of life and lead you safely to his heavenly home.
