Everyday Promises – 271

Fear not for I am with you

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 NIV

Hazel and her husband were making their way home from a caravanning holiday. As they started down a winding mountain road Hazel’s husband discovered that the car had no brakes. The car and caravan began to pick up speed. Down, down the mountain they raced. They knew they faced certain death and prayed earnestly that God would intervene. Suddenly, for no reason, the car and caravan came to an abrupt stop. After chocking the wheels with rocks, they thanked God for his help. Yet they still had to get help. Soon a roadside assistance vehicle pulled to a stop beside them. His service station had received a call that someone needed help up on the mountain. Hazel and her husband were amazed. There were no mobile phones in those days, no emergency phones on the route, and no one had passed them in a car. Hazel is certain that God looked after them that day. Our Father in heaven loves us tenderly and has promised to care about our needs. We can trust him.
