In Daniel 2 there is a prophecy that shows the progression of world powers, from the time of the Babylonian empire to our day, and a glimpse of final events still to take place. The king had a dream and Daniel, one of the Jewish captives, is used by God to interpret the dream. It tells the progression of history using an image of a man made of different metals. The final scene in his dream is a stone being cut out without hands, that strikes the feet of the image. The image is destroyed but the rock, which represents the coming of Jesus in the clouds, fills the whole world. Revelation enlarges on these themes and here in chapter 11 we are promised that one day Jesus will come, and God will set up his kingdom forever. A kingdom of love, peace and happiness that will never pass away.
