Everyday Promises – 281

I will not forget

“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! Isaiah 49:15 NIV

Terry Johnson stood to share his story of failure after failure with the Portland prison inmates. Those hardened men listened as he described his struggle to read, his isolation and feelings of worthlessness. He told of his journey from school troublemaker to criminal.” All through those terrible years,” he told the men, “My mother prayed for me. Her constant love followed me.” One day he realised that God loved him intensely. Even though he was really bad, God wanted to save him. When he was finished Terry stepped down from the stage and went to a heavily guarded criminal at the back of the room. The man looked up with tears in his eyes. “Terry,” he asked, ” can Jesus love me here?” It doesn’t matter where you are or what you have done, you are not forgotten by God. Your mother may not have prayed for you, nor even remember you, but you are of infinite worth to God. He will never forget you and never stop loving you. Turn to him and feel his love surround your life today, for he wants you to be part of his family.
