In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8 NIV
On a journey to Georgia, in 1735, John Wesley’s ship was engulfed by a ferocious storm. He was terrified and wondered if they would arrive safely. He was most impressed with the calm, trusting demeanor of a group of Moravian believers. Like a sleeping child they were able to rest, eat and worship without fear. John desired to have that peace for himself. He soon discovered that the presence of the Holy Spirit in the life brings trust and peace to the heart. We too can dwell in the peace that only God can give. Ask for the Holy Spirit to fill you and walk in serenity through the storms you face. As you seek the Lord, he will make you dwell in safety and be your refuge in every circumstance.
