For the Lord is righteous, he loves justice; the upright will see his face. Psalm 11:7 NIV
Fanny Crosby was a prolific hymn writer who penned over 8,000 hymns in her lifetime. She lost her sight at 6 weeks of age but determined to make the very best of the misfortune. At around 8 years old she began writing poetry. She was educated at the New York Institute for the Blind and then became a teacher there. All the while she was writing verses that filled the pages of many hymn books. She was a truly remarkable woman. Through her lifetime she memorised whole books of the Bible and loved Jesus with all her heart. Once, overhearing a preacher lamenting her blindness she responded by saying she was glad she was blind “… because when I get to heaven, the first face that shall ever gladden my sight will be that of my Saviour.” We too, will see the face of Jesus soon. What a wonderful day that will be.
