Everyday Promises – 305

In God's loving hands

And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up… James 5:15 NIV

2 Kings 20:1-5. tells a story of Hezekiah, a good king of Judah. He became sick and God told him through a prophet that he was going to die. Hezekiah wept bitterly and pleaded with God to heal him. God listened and did heal Hezekiah, but the outcome was not as positive as he expected. Soon after his return to health, in pride he showed some Babylonian visitors all the wealth of his kingdom. This unwise bragging would one day bring ruin to his land. God is sovereign and there are times when we must trust him, even if he does not answer our prayers the way we hope. God loves you; he has all things in his hands and one day both the righteous dead and righteous living will go to live in his eternal kingdom.
