Everyday Promises – 316

Living a life of love

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.  Matthew 25:34 NIV

It will be an incredible moment when Jesus says to his children come and inherit the kingdom. Yet Jesus goes on further to explain why only some of his followers will inherit the home prepared for them. Matthew 25:35,36 says “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ It is not enough to go to church, pay tithe, read the Bible and do other works for God, unless we are motivated by love. The secret ingredient in this story is love. 1 Cor 13: 1 “…if I do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or clanging cymbal.” To be filled with the love of God, we must be filled with Jesus. For … the fruit of the Spirit is love … Gal 5:22. When Jesus resides in the heart, his Spirit motivates and enables us to do everything in love. So, live a life of love, for your reward will be astounding.
