“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Joshua 1:7 NIV

In our promise today it says do not turn to the right or to the left…  it sounds like a passage in Matthew 7:14 where Jesus said, “Small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”  When we accept salvation from Jesus it is freely given, but maintaining a relationship with him is about living a life that pleases him. That means living a life of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. The God of the Universe is holy, perfect and undefiled. He wants us to grow to be more like him every day. There is great blessing for those who strive to live in harmony with God every day. We cannot do this alone but Jesus has promised to send his Spirit to dwell within us. Together, we can safely journey to our eternal kingdom and be a success wherever we go.
