Everyday Promises – 335

Blessed are the meek

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5 NIV

To willingly submit our will to God and actively accept circumstances and offenses is the Christian definition of meekness. Today’s promise is part of a discourse by Jesus that outlines the Christian journey, marking a significant progression to observe. In Matthew 5:3-4, we recognize the emptiness of our existence, leading us to mourn our lives and yearn for something greater. Jesus reveals the next step, saying, “Blessed are the meek,” for it is in verse 5 we discover the secret to knowing God: submitting our will to His. By inviting Him daily to reside in our hearts through the Holy Spirit and take charge of our lives, we embark on a path of joy, fulfillment, and purpose. Humility and a willingness to learn are crucial to the Christian walk. This meekness is not a sign of weakness but requires a strong mind and resolute purpose to choose Jesus each day. Indeed, you will be blessed if you do this.
