He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, Proverbs 2:7 NIV
Ben Carson, was born into a black American family, in difficult circumstances. His mother Sonya, was married at 13 and divorced by the time Ben was 8, leaving her to raise her two boys alone. Sonya prayed daily for her boys and worked 3 jobs to make ends meet. Ben’s grades where so bad by 5th grade that the other children called him ‘dummy’. He developed an anger problem, hung with the wrong set and soon began getting into trouble. One day in anger he lashed out with his knife at one of his mates. Although the blow failed because of a belt buckle, he realised that he could have killed someone. He turned to God and earnestly prayed for forgiveness and help. About this time Sonya made a decision to limit the boys TV watching and told them that they could not go to play with friends until they had completed their homework everyday. She also demanded that the boys read two library books a week and present her with written reports. Success followed and the boys achieved great results in school and university. Ben went on to become a world renown neurosurgeon and his brother an engineer. The Lord can give success to all who commit their way to him and work hard. He wants the very best for us and will help us all the way. Ask him and see.
