May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 NIV
This promise is very reassuring to those who desire to follow Jesus. When we accept Jesus’ death on our behalf, the Christian journey has only just begun. 1 John 2:6 says Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. It is then that we must make Jesus our own every day, and invite his presence into our lives. This empowers us to be what we are not naturally. Many times, I have wept at the feet of Jesus over my own failings. I was born impatient and as a teacher it was my greatest struggle. Every day I had to pray for patience, and I know that as time went on, I was able to do better. Not perfect mind you, but better. That is because God, through his Spirit is growing us, changing us and making us more like Jesus as we live through the challenges, and trials of life. Jesus called you to be his own. He is faithful and if you listen to his voice, he will gradually change your heart to reflect his own. So don’t give up.
