Everyday Promises – 343

Gracious God

…“The gracious hand of our God is on everyone who looks to him”… Ezra 8:22

I was in need of a sofa. The old sofa had taken a trip to the local tip. Without thinking I had invited friends to come over for dinner the following weekend but now realised I had nothing for them to sit on. Unfortunately, I had little money, and was saving to buy a sofa bed, so my kids could stay when they visited. I began to pray that God would help me. I decided to go to the charity shops around the area, perhaps there might be something suitable, that I could afford. To my surprise in the first shop there was a nice sofa that would exactly match the loungeroom. It was only $80. It would be perfect for now. I found a staff member and the sale was transacted. I soon discovered that it was a sofa bed too, unused and in good condition. God not only provided me with a great seat but a bed too. He gets delight out of giving his children good things. Whatever troubles our peace is important to him. We need only ask, trust and thank him, for he will be gracious, loving and kind to all who look to him for help.
