Everyday Promises – 348

God’s waiting room

Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord! Psalm 27:14 NKJV

I was sitting alone in a darkened bus, heading along a dark road into what seemed like the unknown. At that moment it was an allegory of my life. My mother had just passed away and I was alone, empty and hurting. Questions crowded my mind. What would I do without my dear Mum? How would I survive without my best friend? How could I manage the rent alone? What would the future hold? Should I move away from a place of sadness? Where would I go?  Then the thought came to me that it didn’t matter that I had no answers yet, as long as Jesus was driving the bus.  I would safely make it through the dark and back to the light. Jesus would make sure I got safely home. I had arrived at God’s waiting room. Like it or not we come to them in this life. We cannot see into tomorrow and our life is in chaos through a death, marriage breakdown, serious illness, lose of a job or other tragic moments and so we must wait upon the Lord. Our promise today reminds us that it is important to wait on God. He is ever at work to bring good out of bad in our lives. If we are still and wait, he can give us courage and strength to meet the future. So wait I say on the Lord.
