Everyday Promises – 359

A star will rise from Jacob

I see him, but not here and now. I perceive him, but far in the distant future. A star will rise from Jacob; a scepter will emerge from Israel… Numbers 24:17 NLT

Although Israel was awaiting the Messiah, they were not well versed in the Old Testament scriptures. Blinded by the Roman yoke they longed for a King. Not a lowly, humble man who lived out the love of God, but a powerful, strong and resplendent leader that would drive the oppressor from their land and set up his kingdom. Jesus was indeed a conquering king, who came to free the captives and pay the penalty for our iniquities. He took our punishment upon himself. Yet so many of the Jews missed one of the greatest events in history. We too are expecting the King. Don’t be blinded by the world. With the help of the Holy Spirit immerse yourself in God’s word and be ready to meet Jesus soon return. Let his star rise in your heart.
