During my time in Mongolia, I encountered my first shepherd tending to his sheep and goats, reminiscent of the shepherds in the Middle East. The Mongolian climate and landscape are harsh, with winter temperatures plummeting to -40°C and summer temperatures soaring to 40°C. For a shepherd on the Steppes, it’s challenging to provide the necessary food and water for the flock. Special attention is required for the lambs and pregnant ewes under such extreme conditions. The shepherd dedicates his efforts and passion to the welfare of his animals, as his livelihood depends on it. Similarly, Jesus is portrayed as a compassionate and caring shepherd. He holds an intense love for each of us, as we belong to him. His efforts and care are devoted to his cherished flock. To God, every single one of us is valued and dear, and He yearns to bring us closer to His heart.
