I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. Psalm 37:25 NIV
As a young man Adoniram Judson was impressed by God to become a missionary. In Feb 1812, as newly weds, he and his wife Ann, found opportunity to minister in Burma. After intense language study and much hard work they had their first convert 6 years later. From the first, life was challenging with bouts of sickness, frustration, loneliness and the death of a son. In 1824, when England went to war with Burma, Adoniram was imprisoned for two years as a spy. Only the prayers and determined efforts of his wife kept him alive. In 1926, Ann passed away and soon a daughter followed. Yet through all the difficulties God provided, sustained and blessed Adoniram and his work. In his 38 years of service he translated the Bible into Burmese, and lead thousands of people to Jesus. God does not guarantee an easy road in this life, but he has promised to be with us always. You too can go to him with your problems, your heartaches and your needs. Trust him to work on your behalf, for he loves you and will not forsake you.
