Stand firm, and you will win life.   Luke 21:19 NIV

These words were spoken by Jesus in his discourse about the destruction of the temple and the end of the age. He warns us in this passage that we will be hated and persecuted for following God and his word. It is not pleasant to think about suffering and persecution, but we were born in the middle of a war between good and evil, between God and Satan. We were born on the Devil’s side and when we choose to defect Satan is angry. He will do anything he can to destroy God’s people. However, we are not to lose heart. He is a defeated foe. Jesus won the ultimate battle on the cross where he purchased all who would be saved with his blood. He is a refuge and helper as we walk life’s path and one day soon Jesus will return and redeem all who have stayed true to him. Hold on, stand firm for Jesus will soon come!
